If The Shoe Fits...

Finding the perfect workout shoe is like finding the perfect little black dress... too many styles and fits to choose from. Did you know there are shoes specifically for running, group classes, and the gym?

I've been struggling trying to find the perfect running shoe... something that will allow me to run longer distances without my hips giving out. But where do I start? How will I know these shoes will be the right ones for me without first taking them for a test run?

I found a great read on Women's Health website, "The Best Shoe For Your Workout".  This article provides some great tips when it comes to shopping for the best workout shoe for you.

Happy running! XO

Sneak Peak: My Favorite Videos

Here are just a couple of my favorite videos to brighten my day and put a smile on my face :)

I was watching Good Morning America the other morning and I love when they do their "Play Of The Day!" segment. Of course, when I saw the Harvard baseball team doing their choreographed dance to Carly Rae Jepsen's Call Me Maybe, I just couldn't get enough! (Love the guy in the back left corner hehe)

One of my favorite TV shows this season is SMASH... the adult version of GLEE. I just can't get enough! In the episode of "The Coup", this is one of my favorite scenes and performances.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

It's BASEBALL season!

Here's a funny clip from one of my favorite movies, A League Of Their Own :)

I'll admit, I am not a fan of watching the sport on TV... Zzzzzz. However, going to the games is one of my favorite things about summer. I've only been to two MLB games... the Chicago Cubs and the New York Mets. Both amazing stadiums and of course, a great time!

Buy me some peanuts and cracker jacks....
I don't care if I never get back!
Let me root, root, root for the home team...
If they don't win it's a shame.
For it's one, two, three strikes you're out...
At the old ball game!

Cook Your Way Into His Heart

My favorite way to spend date night...

Nothing says romance like cooking up a yummy dinner together on a summer evening. One of my all time favorite summertime recipes is grilled chicken and peaches with a chipotle-peach dressing. Very easy to make and delicious!

Grilled Chicken & Peaches with Chipotle-Peach Dressing

I suggest making a salad to go along with the grilled chicken. Here is a delicious recipe from Food Network's Big Daddy...

So girls, brush up on your grilling skills because this recipe is sure to impress!

30 Things Every Woman Should Have & Know by the Time She's 30

While spinning at the gym this morning, I was reading Glamour and this article caught my eye, "30 Things Every Woman Should Have and Should Know by the Time She's 30". I love a good list and advice on how to be a happy grown- up :). So ladies, here you go!

By 30, you should have...

1. One old boyfriend you can imagine going back to and one who reminds you of how far you've come.
2. A decent piece of furniture not previously owned by anyone else in your family.
3. Something perfect to wear if the employer or man of your dreams wants to see you in an hour.
4. A purse, a suitcase, and an umbrella you’re not ashamed to be seen carrying.5. A youth you’re content to move beyond.
6. A past juicy enough that you’re looking forward to retelling it in your old age.
7. The realization that you are actually going to have an old age—and some money set aside to help fund it.
8. An email address, a voice mailbox, and a bank account—all of which nobody has access to but you.
9. A résumé that is not even the slightest bit padded.
10. One friend who always makes you laugh and one who lets you cry.
11. A set of screwdrivers, a cordless drill, and a black lace bra.
12. Something ridiculously expensive that you bought for yourself, just because you deserve it.
13. The belief that you deserve it.
14. A skin-care regimen, an exercise routine, and a plan for dealing with those few facets of life that don’t get better after 30.
15. A solid start on a satisfying career, a satisfying relationship, and all those other facets of life that do get better.

By 30, you should know...

1. How to fall in love without losing yourself.
2. How you feel about having kids.
3. How to quit a job, break up with a man, and confront a friend with-out ruining the friendship.
4. When to try harder and when to walk away.
5. How to kiss in a way that communicates perfectly what you would and wouldn’t like to happen next.
6. The names of the secretary of state, your great-grandmothers, and the best tailor in town.
7. How to live alone, even if you don’t like to.
8. Where to go—be it your best friend’s kitchen table or a yoga mat—when your soul needs soothing.
9. That you can’t change the length of your legs, the width of your hips, or the nature of your parents.
10. That your childhood may not have been perfect, but it’s over.
11. What you would and wouldn’t do for money or love.
12. That nobody gets away with smoking, drinking, doing drugs, or not flossing for very long.
13. Who you can trust, who you can’t, and why you shouldn’t take it personally.
14. Not to apologize for something that isn’t your fault.
15. Why they say life begins at 30!

How far have you gotten on this list?

"Ah Ha!"

My marketing "ah ha!" moment came my freshman year at Indiana University (go Hoosiers!) during my Interpersonal Communications class. One of our major projects for this class was to record a casual conversation happening between a group of people, transcribe 3 minutes of the conversation and then interpret. If you have never transcribed anything, 3 minutes is a veryyyyyyy long time!

Now, I know you're thinking this sounds like a psychology "ah ha!" moment more so than marketing. However, the two go hand-in-hand. My love and passion for marketing all started with the psychology of consumerism.

Why do people say what they say? How do people get to that certain point in the conversation? Why do people buy? Why that brand over the other? Why this product?

This is a favorite book of mine... Buyology, check it out for more information on marketing and the psychology behind consumerism! :)

One of my favorite TV shows is Mad Men... all about the advertising agencies in Manhattan in the 1960's. Fascinating! Marketing and advertising has clearly changed over the years, but one thing has stayed consistent... What the consumer wants and WHY.

"People tell you who they are, but we ignore it - because we want them to be who we want them to be."

"You are the product. You feeling something. That's what sells. Not them. Not sex. They can't do what we do and they hate us for it."

"Advertising is based on one thing, happiness. And you know what happiness is? Happiness is the smell of a new car. It's freedom from fear. It's a billboard on the side of the road that screams reassurance that whatever you are doing is okay. You are okay."

-Don Draper
